The film takes place simultaneously in the 1920s and 1980s. The writer Salijan Nartayev, whose parents were killed by Basmachi, writes a book about his childhood, about school, about the first teacher, about his native village, where the Soviet government has just come. Some people in the village did not like this power - Ishaan and his son Mulladost, local bais and mullahs, harm the new government, kidnap the girl Gulnara, accusing little Salijan of this, set fire to the school, kill the teacher.
